The Edit caught up with Natural Baby Shower on all things sustainability, from how they have reduced their office’s carbon footprint, to the packing processes they have put in place to achieve their sustainability goals.

Who are Natural Baby Shower?

Natural Baby Shower is an award-winning independent nursery retailer who proudly stocks over 140+ eco, ethical and premium baby brands. Part of our ethos is, if parents buy well, they only need to buy once, and we are committed to providing the most premium parenting products by only working with trusted and ethically conscious brands. We believe that every parent should be able to purchase products that suit their lifestyle whilst knowing there are no compromises on quality.

Natural Baby Shower was born from founders Vics and Clifton’s inspiration during their travels in New Zealand, which was also where they welcomed their first child. It was there that they realised they wanted to provide parents with the very best natural and sustainable baby products all under one roof, something that wasn’t currently available in the UK nursery retail industry.

Now, Natural Baby Shower has been running for 17 years, growing from a team of two round a kitchen table, to a team of over 70 at our impressive HQ in Bracknell, UK. From what began as a small business, we are now proud to be a market leading, independent retailer, who, in the last five years, has dispatched over 1.2 million customer orders. 

Tell us about Natural Baby Shower’s services.

As well as wanting to sell products, we strive to help everyone along on their parenting journey with expert advice from our excellent customer service team, informative blogs and knowledgeable store assistants. Our 20,000 five-star Trustpilot reviews are a testament to our success and customer satisfaction.

We opened our Surrey store in 2015, which is home to an array of baby and parenting essentials. The store is the perfect hub to showcase products and offer a premium shopping experience with our team of experienced nursery specialists. We also have an innovative video call service that allows customers to have a free virtual store appointment from the comfort of their home at a time that suits them. 

What are Natural Baby Shower doing to be more environmentally conscious?

Committed to minimising our carbon footprint, Natural Baby Shower operates from a state-of-the-art 43,000 sq ft office. This building is top-of-the-range, energy efficient and filled with high quality, sustainable furniture made from recycled materials wherever possible. The building complies with the BREEAM standard for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation. BREEAM measures a building’s environmental impact across ten categories including energy, water, waste, pollution and transport.

Prioritising sustainable practices, NBS works in the most eco-friendly way possible. Our warehouse team have worked hard to revolutionise the packing process by only using the essential amount of packaging, minimising space waste, and reducing the amount of single use plastics. 

We focus on green shipping initiatives to avoid part-shipping and work collaboratively with brands that support our mission to make this possible. It is our goal to continue to work with suppliers, delivery operators and our internal warehouse team to create a supply chain that is as planet friendly as possible. 

What’s next for Natural Baby Shower?

Natural Baby Shower will continue to operate responsibly and consider our impact on the planet every step of the way. We also aim to keep working with new local charities and donate where we can to families in need.
