Prevent common car seat buying, installation and usage mistakes with this simple list of dos and don'ts.

Dos

Read the fitting instructions carefully. If in doubt, contact the manufacturer

Use a child restraint appropriate to your child's weight and development and until your child reaches 135cm in height or their 12th birthday (whichever is sooner)

Ensure everyone who will be fitting the seat is confident in doing so

Don'ts

Don't use a second-hand car seat, as there could be invisible damage to the structure

Put an adult belt around an adult and child together

Leave your child alone in the car, not even for a moment

Leave heavy or sharp objects loose in the car, as they can cause injury in the event of an accident

How our car seats are tested
Safety is our top priority, testing our seats above and beyond the latest crash test regulations

All of the seats within the Silver Cross collection are tested to the very latest R129 i-Size safety regulations. On top of this we test inline with the more stringent ADAC testing protocols where our seats achieve a number of best in class results. ADAC is an independent German organisation which runs Europe's largest car seat rating programme.

3 Car seat accreditations

ADAC - Motion All Size 360

The Silver Cross Motion All Size 360 has achieved the best test result for a baby, toddler and child seat, offering the best overall safety for an all stages car seat.

ADAC - Simplicity Plus + Simplifix ISOFIX Base

The Simplicity Plus car seat & Simplifix Isofix base has been tested by ADAC and has been awarded a 'Good' rating ensuring the best safety to your little one.

ADAC - Simplicity Plus

The Simplicity Plus car seat has been tested by ADAC and awarded 'Good' offering the best safety for your child.

How ADAC test our seats:

Selecting products

•ADAC testing is conducted independently from the manufacturers/brands. They select the seats themselves, purchasing them without informing the brands until the testing is conducted. They test in a whole range of configurations depending on the product, but typically identifying the worst performing configurations and testing to them. For the Silver Cross Motion All Size 360 14 different configurations were tested.

Testing speeds and deceleration

•ADAC test front impact (40mph) and side impact (31mph). More important than the speed tested is the rate of deceleration (how hard the impact is). ADAC test methods use more aggressive decelerations than the regulation

Test dummies and technology used

•ADAC use the latest Q series crash test dummies, measuring head and chest accelerations, chest deformation, neck loading

•The Q series dummies are much better engineered than the older P series dummies which means their level of movement is much more lifelike and the offer better repeatability.

Scoring methods

•ADAC score the car seat across 5 key areas, safety, ergonomics, chemical content, ease of cleaning, how easy it is to fit. Combining all of these to give an overall publicly available score

How many seats have been tested

•ADAC have tested approx 600+ seats since 2007
